The Needles were a series of rock pinnacles at the Farrow Ridges[1]. They were from black crystal veined by red bloodstone, and no vegetation grew on the hard rock. In the sun, the rock heated and the area warmed.
The Needles were visible from Cade Quarter's cabin at the Farrow Lake, and from the highest point of the Needles, you could look over the whole area. The first time that Cade rode his prowlgrin Rumblix, Cade and Celestia raced up to the highest point.[2]
