Tug was a nameless one, a primitive and strange creature from the Nightwoods. He was a friend of Cade and his prowlgrin Rumblix and lived beneath his cabin.

Biography

Role in The Nameless One

Tug's mother died of her wounds when the banderbear Goom tried to save her from red dwarf slavers. Tug escaped, but got lost in the woods. He was found by Cade Quarter who was initially scared by the nameless one, but then gave him a home under his cabin . The nameless one helped Cade remove boulders from the land he intended to use as a garden, earning him the name Tug .

Role in Doombringer

Tug and Rumblix met Phineal, scaring the webfoot. He was soon captured by Merton Hoist, yet was recaptured by Phineal and Cade using the Caterbird. During and after the Battle of the Farrow Ridges, helped Celestia by helping her wounded inhabitants of the Farrow Ridges. She commented that Tug was a natural healer, contrary to how he may look. During the final act of the battle, just when Merton Hoist was about to shoot Cade, Tug came up behind him and grabbed him, capturing him for good.

Personality and Appearance

Cade was reminded from time to time that not all people knew Tug like he did, and that Tug was actually quite scary the first time you saw him. Despite his appearance, Tug was gentle, possessed a natural talent for healing and was able to perform delicate tasks like harvesting seed-stones.

Role in Weird New Worlds

In Weird New Worlds, there was a nameless one called Kulltuft who was befriended by Forden Drew. Tug was more intelligent than Kulltuft and thus able to speak in short, primitive sentences.
