Pine-ermines were a small mammal which lived in the Deepwoods. They were known for their luscious fur, which they shed twice a year. In the spring, they moulted and grew a pitch-black coat, which they then shed in the autumn for a pure white pelt.
Their furs were highly prised amongst the citizens of the Edge, and were most notably worn by the Professors of Light and Darkness in the First Age of Flight.[1]
