Screetown was a rubble-strewn wilderness formed when chunks of the diseased New Sanctaphrax rock fell on an area of Undertown, destroying all the surrounding buildings and roads, and forming many deep canyons from the shock waves[1]. The crushed areas included the Western Quays and boom-docks[citation needed]. Even years later, despite the endless work on the Sanctaphrax Forest, chunks of the rock continued to fall on Screetown[2].

Characteristics[]

Terrain[]

The terrain of Screetown consisted of a rocky mix of crevices, large and small, treacherous stacked rubble, and semi-intact pieces of old structures. The terrain of Screetown was also very dusty.[2] Underground, the sewers were impassable between Screetown and the intact parts of Undertown[3].

Water[]

Water could be found in Screetown at the sites of old wells, fountains, and pipes that continued to flow[2].

Inhabitants[]

Rock demons and rubble ghouls[2], as well as muglumps, feral lemkins, and ratbirds inhabited Screetown. Some plants lived there too. The librarians believed that it was impossible for civilized beings to survive in Screetown, but in fact the Ghosts of Screetown did so[3].
