The Edge Chronicles were written in a complicated order. As each book is a standalone story, any way to read the books is possible. However, we have some recommendations on how to read the books. Chris Riddell and Paul Stewart recommend to read in in-universe chronological order.[1].
Recommended order for first-time readers[]
Reading the Edge Chronicles in this order makes the most sense. Starting with Twig in the First Age of Flight, then moving towards the Second Age of Flight, returning to the First and then moving forward in time again to the Third Age of Flight. If you like Sky Pirates, though, you might want to read the Quint Saga after the Twig Trilogy.
- Twig Saga
- Beyond the Deepwoods (1998, 1st Book of Twig)
- Stormchaser (1999, 2nd Book of Twig)
- Midnight Over Sanctaphrax (2000, 3rd Book of Twig)
- Rook Saga
- The Last of the Sky Pirates (2002, 1st Book of Rook)
- Vox (2003, 2nd Book of Rook)
- Freeglader (2004, 3rd Book of Rook)
- Quint Saga
- The Curse of the Gloamglozer (2001, 1st Book of Quint)
- The Winter Knights (2005, 2nd Book of Quint)
