The Oakelf Brotherhood was a secretive order of oakelves who dwelled on Lullabee Island in the North Lake of the Free Glades. They often allowed emotionally troubled Freegladers to sleep in caterbird cocoons to find answers and cure themselves of their mysterious ailments. Maris lived with them in her last years, where Keris came to meet her.
The Oakelf Brotherhood were known to chant while ringing a heavy bell and swinging an incense-burner on chains to fill the air with aromatic smoke. They also wore turquoise hooded robes, which were stained with the juice of lullabee trees.

In Freeglader, Rook Barkwater was approached by Grailsooth of the Brotherhood while in the New Bloodoak Tavern. Despite the protests of Felix Lodd, Rook went with the Brotherhood to Lullabee Island. On the isle, Grailsooth revealed that the Brotherhood had dreamt of Rook's suffering due to the sepia storm. He directed Rook to a caterbird cocoon to rest, with the goal of finding inner peace.
According to Mother Bluegizzard, only those invited could set foot on Lullabee Island. She also stated that their purpose was to "spread peace and healing throughout the Free Glades".
